The business world has opted for active professionals who are familiar with the latest changes and developments in their environment.
Not everything is done with a university degree, we must always keep abreast of our work sector.
Today there are several alternatives to keep our training up to dates, such as distance education or MOOCs.
The most innovative companies believe in university students, but try to stay with those who have an added bonus.
The labour market is going through one of its most competitive times worldwide. Finding a job is becoming more and more difficult, even for those with higher education, so you have to find a way to stand out from the rest of the professional world in order to get a job.
Some have managed to enter the labour market through a speciality, completing their university education with postgraduate courses. Others have opted to immerse themselves in online courses, tutorials, talks and curious about any activity that involves staying active in their professional field, and have also achieved good results.
The latter are the ones that are surprising since they are managing to place themselves in large corporations (especially in the technological area) without the need to stand out especially in the academic area, but because of their self-taught character and their entrepreneurial attitude.
Recent developments set the trend
Technological advances have a significant impact on the business market. It is normal for the academic world to update its educational programmes in response to these changes, but it often falls short of the pace.
Since there is no formal training that allows us to become the professionals ‘of the future’, we will have to find the means by ourselves, and that is what makes the most innovative companies in the world fall in love with it.
They are looking for professionals who develop with the latest digital tools and who are familiar with the latest trends in their field of work.
A world beyond the university
It is clear that being in possession of a university degree will bring us closer to becoming that professional we have loved so much. It will be the first thing that human resources managers will take note of, but to stand out from the rest it is not enough.
For many companies today, academic training is irrelevant, and there are more and more cases of people who decide to retrain, so their current job profile has little or no relation to their previous university studies.
Experts point out that large corporations cannot afford to let creative and talented profiles slip away just because they didn’t go to college. If you can prove that you are qualified for the position, it might be enough for them, although demonstrating a university education is always a plus.
If we want to get what we have always considered our ideal job, the question is clear: we will have to do our best for it and soak up all the knowledge that will allow us to be updated on the subject.
It sounds tedious or complicated, but if we really like our field of work, it will be nice to discover something new about our profession every day.
